Are you a carer?
Have you ever wondered what would happen to the person you care for if you were in an accident?
What would happen if you were unable to tell anyone about the person you care for and they were waiting for you to pick them up?
Have you ever wondered what would happen if the person you care for needed your help but they were unable to get in touch with you? Would they know what to do?
At Rainbow Rogues, this is something that we have all thought about at some point and decided to do something to give us peace of mind should this ever happen.
With funding from The Morrisons Foundation, we have produced Emergency Carer Packs.
In each pack is an instruction leaflet, two emergency cards – one for the Carer and one for the cared for person, and two emergency contact information forms which are to be held by the nominated emergency contacts.
In the event of the carer being in an accident and unable to communicate with first responders, this card will alert them to the fact that they are a carer and the person they care for may need assistance.
If the cared for person is involved in an incident where they need help and are unable to provide information about their carer, this information will again be easily accessed.
We are aware that these details may be stored on devices such as smart phones, but this relies on people knowing how to access the information and with technology changing so rapidly, we hope that this gives people a very basic alternative and peace of mind.
We will be distributing the Carers Emergency Packs over the coming weeks. If you would like to request a pack, please email hello@rainbowrogues.org.uk.
Packs can be requested by organisations and individuals.
