About Rainbow Rogues
A Community-Led charity providing counselling, family support and inclusive wellbeing services for children, young people, adults and families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
How Rainbow Rogues Began
Rainbow Rogues began by creating welcoming and inclusive spaces for children with additional support needs and their families. It was a place where families could connect with others who understood their experiences and access support without judgement.
By listening to the people who came to us, we recognised that children, young people, adults and families may need different kinds of support at different points in their lives. Our services have developed in response to what people told us they needed.
Today we provide Open-Access community counselling, Family-Centred support and Connect and Grow group activities. Each service offers a different route to support, while sharing the same commitment to creating spaces where people feel heard, accepted and understood.
Where It All Started
Rainbow Rogues was founded to create welcoming, inclusive spaces for children with additional support needs and their families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Listening and Learning
By listening to the families and individuals who came to us, we recognised the broader range of support people needed at different points in their lives.
Community Counselling
We introduced Open-Access community counselling providing a safe, confidential space for children, young people and adults, with no referral or threshold assessment required.
Family Support and Connect and Grow
We expanded our services to include Family-Centred support and inclusive group activities, giving every member of a family a route to the right help at the right time.
Where We are Today
A thriving community charity with qualified counsellors, family support workers and a dedicated team committed to being here when it matters most.
What Drives Everything We Do
We believe support should be accessible, welcoming and shaped around the real experiences of the people we work with.
Person-Centred Support
We listen to each person's experiences, needs and strengths and shape our support around them rather than asking them to fit into a system.
Community Connection
We create spaces where people feel less alone, build meaningful connections, and find solidarity with others who understand their experiences.
Early Intervention
We do not believe you should have to wait until crisis point before support is available. We are here before things become overwhelming.
The Principles Behind Everything We Do
Our values are not just words. They shape every conversation we have, every service we provide, and every decision we make as an organisation.
We are a Scottish Charity (SC046756) governed by a board of trustees who are committed to our mission and to the people we serve.
Accessible
Support should be easy to reach without unnecessary barriers or thresholds.
Person-Centred
We listen to each person's experiences, needs and strengths.
Family-Centred
We recognise families often need practical, emotional and community-based support.
Child-Centred
Safe, understanding spaces where children can feel accepted and supported.
Inclusive
We welcome everyone regardless of background, diagnosis or circumstance.
Collaborative
We work alongside families, not for them partnership is at our core.
Support That Makes a Real Difference
Behind every number is a person or family who reached out and found support when they needed it most.
